Argh, holidays are the worst! I was thinking on Sunday that I would have plenty of time to do this on Monday, and then I never thought of it again until it was too late! But I have plenty to talk about this week, so let’s do it on a Tuesday that feels like a Monday!

What I Read
I finished reading Lessons from Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott. I feel like I went into this one with a pretty open mind, and it started out alright, but by the end I was over it. The parts about French living were interesting, but the author was really…pretentious about it all. It probably could and should have been a blog post instead of a book, and that’s all I’ll say about that.
Moving on, I also finished both London Uncovered by Mark Daly and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. The former was pretty picture-heavy. I read it mostly from my phone, but I was glad to also have the option of using my Colorsoft Kindle at times. I found a lot of interesting things that we might like to check out on our trip. The latter I had read a few times previously, the most recent being about five years ago. It’s an excellent read, but I agree with Richard Foster and the author himself that it’s best not to spend too much time with it.
For library reads, I started The Polygamist’s Daughter by Anna LeBaron for a book about a cult. This is a memoir about a girl who grew up in an extreme offshoot of the Mormon church, being moved around the continent to avoid law enforcement looking for her parents and other members of the sect. This one is going quickly, so I expect to be done by next week for sure.
For my next phone/London read, I started Bizarre London by David Long. This one doesn’t have as many practical things to put on our list, as many sections are things like “buildings that were never built,” but it’s kind of fun.
For spiritual reads, I started The Four-Fold Way by Angeles Arrien. This is also going to be my library challenge read for a book with more than twenty translations. I’ll probably set this one aside next week (once I get to a good stopping place) to start the book I had planned for June and pick it back up as time allows.
What I Watched
It feels like a long time ago, but I think I watched some more Gilmore Girls early in the week, then some Seinfeld. Over the weekend, though, I started watching the reboot of Frasier on Paramount+, and ended up almost finishing the two seasons. This was a fun, easy show to watch.
What I Listened To
Not much has changed here, although I realized I’m getting dangerously close to being caught up to the present with the Crafty Ass Female podcast. I was able to get caught up with my regular lineup of podcasts towards the end of the week, too. I was even able to finish listening to A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon on Audible, and I started the next book, An Echo in the Bone.
It feels like I had a pretty big week, even though I am posting late! How about you? Does a holiday throw you a little off-kilter too? How does it affect your reading and other media consumption? Let’s chat in the comments!
