Media Monday – August 24

Yeah, I totally skipped last week. The weekend was insane, and then hopping right back into work while still dealing with the aftershocks was no picnic. Apologies for the vagueness, but it’s more about other people’s stories rather than mine. Although I guess I could share my part. I was about halfway through a three-hour drive home when the A/C in my car started going out, so that was pretty not awesome. I’m still waiting for repairs to be complete, but I did get a loaner car on Friday, so I’m ok waiting a little more.

My post last week wasn’t going to be too exciting anyway, so let’s catch up with two weeks’ worth!

What I Read

For some good news, I did finish reading The Texicans by Nina Vida this past week! This was kind of part adventure, part tragic, even part veering into possible fantasy, so it’s really hard to classify. I guess the best I can do is say that it’s a very human story.

After that, I wasn’t completely sure what to read next, so I kind of fiddled around with my challenge list and by archived books. I think I only need about three more to finish the challenge, not counting The Four Agreements, which I’ve started and been reading kind of intermittently. But I finally decided it’s time to read Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon! This is the last Outlander book that’s been published so far, and I was missing Frasier’s Ridge after running out of audiobooks to listen to. At 960 pages in print, this is a commitment, but it should also be a page turner, and I can also use it for a book set during the American Revolution.

In other reading, I’m still working my way through The Confessions of St. Augustine and my NIV Life Application Study Bible.

What I Watched

Welp, I changed by mind about Outlander. I got an episode and a half into season 8, and figured that we were now getting into Bees territory, so I was worried again about getting spoiled. I will finish the series, but not until I’ve finished the book.

After that, I went back to my old standby Seinfeld for a while. It’s funny to see how there are connections and callbacks in the show that don’t always come through when watching it in syndication, which was how I first saw it. I think there’s a couple of episodes that they actually don’t rerun, or at least I’ve never seen them on TV.

Then, you know what happened late last week, the last season of Outer Banks dropped! It’s ten episodes, and I’m about halfway through number six. I will not be taking a break from this one!

What I Listened To

This category is a little more boring. I don’t remember if I told you or not, but I decided to make the Hacking Humans podcast part of my regular rotation. Even with that in the mix, I’ve had time to listen to several more episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast as well.

I still haven’t started a new audiobook, though. I’m just not feeling it right now. I’m sure I’ll turn back to them at some point, just not today.

Phew! Two weeks makes for a longer post! So now it’s your turn! What kinds of media have you been consuming lately? Any new drops that you’ve been waiting for? Or, like me and audiobooks, are you feeling burned out on anything? Let’s chat about it in the comments!
