The Enneagram is a tool for understanding personalities. There are nine basic types, and I’m a five, the Investigator. What I love about it compared to many other personality descriptors (like Meyers-Briggs, Hogwarts houses, etc.) is that you’re not just pigeonholed into a single type. You also have a dominant instinct which influences how you express your type, as well as wings – the numbers on either side of yours – that can be expressed in various ways. I think of it as more of a multi-dimensional spectrum where everyone has their unique place then as a set of boxes to be fit into.
