Media Monday – April 13

We’ll call this the Tax Day edition! Have you filed yet? I’ve been putting it off because we have had some changes in our tax situation in the last year. But I’m about done, just need to double check things. And I’ve still had time for the things I love!

What I Read

Plot twist, this might be the most boring section this week! I’ve continued reading Great Lion of God by Taylor Caldwell. It’s books like these that make me thankful for my Kindle for reading. At over 650 pages, this one would be a real doorstop!

I did finish reading The Purple Passport to London! I think I talked about this a little before, but what I particularly liked about it is that it was arranged by neighborhood, so that makes is easy to kind of plan a day around one area. What I didn’t like so much was that the coverage was kind of limited, and focused on things like bars and spas as much as other areas of interest. (I don’t plan on spending a lot of time at bars or spas when we go.) After that one, I started one called London Uncovered by Mark Daley. This one is very picture heavy, but I’m already liking that it’s heavier on things like museums and parks and other places that would be interesting to walk around.

I’ve also continued reading The Journal of John Woolman for my spiritual read this month, and my Bible reading plan.

What I Watched

For kind of mindless watching, I’ve watched more of American Housewife, and I feel like I watched quite a bit of Seinfeld.

This weekend, however, I was feeling more like watching a drama, but I still wanted to keep Outlander on pause. I remembered that The Diplomat has been in my Netflix queue for a while, so I started that and watched the whole first season. I’m really enjoying it so far! I like that even though it’s a drama it also has some pretty funny (like, not comedic, but funny-ironic) moments.

I haven’t watched this yet, but I realized that The Testaments had come out this week. I read the book several years ago, so I’m interested to see how much of the show will be based on it and how much they will explore other areas. I’m not sure I’m feeling this one just now, though.

What I Listened To

Ok, this might actually be the most boring section, as usual! I’ve still got the same podcast lineup that I’ve had for a while, and I’m still whittling away at episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast. I’ve also made some good progress listening to A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon on Audible.

Actually, does this count? On Saturday we went to a music recital at our church. In the last year or so they’ve started a program where people can sign up for lessons in voice, piano, or guitar. A (middle school) friend of ours is taking voice lessons, so we went to hear her, as well as several others we know.

So that’s been my week of media! How about you? Are taxes also taking over all your thoughts? Or did you get them filed months ago? Are you consuming media to procrastinate on them? Let’s talk about it in the comments and procrastinate some more!
