So this was…a medium week, I guess? It’s a mix of old and new, so let’s take a look!

What I Read
I’m still reading In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. I’m a little over halfway through, so I feel like I’m making decent progress on this one. It’s in the description on Amazon, so I guess I can say that this book tells the story of a series of plane crashes near Elizabeth, NJ, in the early 1950s. I looked it up, and it is actually based on true events, which makes it all the more heartbreaking. The perspective rotates through multiple characters, but it’s centered on a teenage girl with a single mother who, of course, has plenty of other things going on in her life while living through a series of tragedies.
For my spiritual book this month, I started reading Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ by Jeanne Guyon. This is another classic, and it probably should be read slower than I’m going, so I will probably be revisiting this one in the future for a deeper dive.
What I Watched
So I finished watching Superstore on Hulu. This was funny and surprisingly touching.
Then, I wasn’t sure I was going to get to this one, but I did watch a couple of episodes of Outlander on Starz. It felt kind of heavier than I wanted, but it was also nice to get back to Jamie and Claire in the 1770s and Brianna and Roger in the 1980s. I know it’s going to be a lot of book crammed into just a few hours of TV, so I kind of have mixed feelings about this last season.
One more thing to add, I watched the first episode of the new Little House on the Prairie series on Netflix. I’m liking that they are showing some of the adult’s issues in this one. I loved reading Caroline by Sarah Miller a few years ago, and I feel like this series had a similar feel.
What I Listened To
More of the same here in podcast land. I actually listened to less than usual because I took a couple of days off last week, so was driving less.
I did also make a bit more progress listening to Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon on Audible.
So that’s been my week. I feel like most of my media consumption has been slowing down, and I’m not sure if it’s a summer thing, or more of a life thing. Maybe it’s just something that I’m noticing now because I’m writing about it. I have to remind myself that these are things I’m doing because I enjoy them, so it’s ok if sometimes I’m doing other things that I enjoy instead.
But what about you? Anybody else out there feel like you’re kind of in a slump? Or are you devouring content like there’s no tomorrow? Let me know!
