Media Monday – July 20

Another Monday is here! I know Mondays get a bad rap, but sometimes it actually feels good to get back into a routine after a weekend. Anyway, it’s time to talk about media!

What I Read

I finished reading In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume! If I haven’t mentioned it before, this is an adult novel, even though many of the main characters are teenagers. Of course, many teenagers could read and enjoy it, but there are some pretty heavy themes. As always, though, she nailed the characters and their development, and it was a very good read.

Just last night, I started reading Texicans by Nina Vida, for a book set in the state where I was born. This one is moving pretty quickly, but I haven’t read enough to have formed much of an opinion yet. Stay Tuned.

In other reading, I’m still working through Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ by Jeanne Guyon, and my Bible reading plan in the NIV Life Application Study Bible. Right now I’m almost done with 1 Kings in the Old Testament and have started reading James in the New, which is actually an interesting combination.

What I Watched

I finished watching the new Little House on the Prairie this week! I enjoyed this version, and I’m glad to see that it’s been renewed for a second season.

I also watched several episodes of Seinfeld this week, starting back from the beginning of the series. It’s my comfort watch.

Then over the weekend my daughter mentioned the upcoming final season of Outer Banks, so I figured I should try to do a quick rewatch of that since I’d forgotten a lot of what happened in the earlier seasons. It’s not as stressful to watch this time since I know what’s going to happen. I also don’t have to pay quite as much attention, so I’m able to watch it faster, I think.

What I Listened To

I just had my usual podcast lineup to listen to this week, but I did have time to listen to a couple of back episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast. I also made some more progress with listening to Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon on Audible. After this one, I’m planning to switch to reading the next book on Kindle, since I haven’t read it before and don’t want to miss anything.

Well, that’s been my week! Even though my daughter was gone for most of it at camp, it feels a bit more normal than things have recently. Or maybe her being gone was the reason it felt more normal! Anyway, what’s up with you? Do you have anything new that you’re reading, watching, or listening to? Are you excited about anything that’s upcoming? Let’s chat about it in the comments!
