Well, I’m writing this Monday evening, but it’s not late Monday evening, so I’m calling it a win! It’s another mixed bag this week, so let’s get into it!

What I Read
Still not very exciting here. I’m still reading Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. However, I got to the part where…I don’t know if you would call it a twist since it’s in the description, but it is a clever plot device. If you haven’t read it, it starts with a typical whodunit mystery, which then turns out to be a story within the story. That story is actually a manuscript that has some strange parallels to the author’s real life. The extra layer of mystery is adding some more interest for me, so hopefully I’ll be able to get some more reading time in this week.
In other reading, I’m now 75% through The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis. I think I’m just going to keep reading this one, skip the one that I couldn’t find in ebook form, and continue down my list for the year. I think trying to make books fit into months isn’t necessarily serving me very well, so I want to see how it goes with a little looser schedule.
What I Watched
I finished watching Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, I think around last Wednesday. After that, I decided to start watching Superstore, which is another show my daughter turned me on to. It’s about employees at a big-box store, so I’m sure you can imagine the kinds of hilarity that take place.
I also finished watching Amadeus on Starz. This is based on the play, which the movie from the 80s was based on, so had the Salieri murdering Mozart angle, but additionally had kind of a did he or didn’t he twist at the end that I liked.
Also, I’m not watching yet, but I did find out that the last season of Outer Banks is coming out in August! My daughter and her friend were hoping to watch it together, but they’ll be back at school and work when it comes out, so hopefully they’ll find another way to make it fun.
What I Listened To
I had my usual podcasts to listen to this week, with a slight twist. I realized that I’m coming up a little short on my CPE credits that are due next month, so I also listened to a few episodes of Hacking Humans, which is a relatively fun security podcast.
I’ve also continued making slow but steady progress with Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon on Audible.
So that’s been my week! I’m looking forward to having a day off work this week, and also taking a day or two off next week for my birthday! Will I spend it reading? Not all of it, I’m sure, since I’ve definitely got some plans for this weekend, but maybe I can squeeze a little in. Besides the holiday, this should be a relatively normal week at our house.
