Media Monday – May 4

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth be with you! Yes, it’s a cheesy made up holiday, and, yes, I spent too much time at work sharing Star Wars GIFs!

So, yes, I missed last week. Honestly, there wasn’t much change, so it would have been boring anyway. I do have some new stuff to report this week, so let’s get started!

What I Read

I’m still working on Great Lion of God by Taylor Caldwell. I’m about three-quarters of the way through now, which is a little surprising, because Paul hasn’t taken a single missionary journey yet. Honestly, I expected a lot less backstory and more apostling. I’ll withhold judgment until I’m finished, though. The end is in sight! I’m also still working on London Uncovered by Mark Daley.

In spiritual reads, I finished The Journal of John Woolman yesterday. This was pretty interesting. He was a very thoughtful man, ahead of his time in many ways, and might have been completely unknown had he not kept this journal. There are a few letters and essays included, as well. Today, I started my next book, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. I’ve read this one before, and I’m sure it will go much faster. I may be able to read it twice.

What I Watched

This section will be more exciting! I finished watching the last season of American Housewife! It has five seasons, but, honestly, the last one was kind of a throwaway. The most annoying thing was that the changed the actress for the youngest daughter, so she just wasn’t the same. Also, Katie’s second-breakfast friends were both gone for vague reasons, and got replaced early in the season. I did like the cafe guy that they brought in, and think it would have been great if they had introduced him earlier. After that, I was back to Seinfeld for a while, which was fun. I’m in season eight, which is really in the groove.

Around the time the weekend rolled around, I decided I wanted to watch something more serious, so I started The Testaments. I ended up watching all six episodes that are currently out, and I think it’s really good so far. It’s not quite as intense as The Handmaid’s Tale, but it’s got me hooked! (I’ve previously read both of the books by Margaret Atwood, but the shows have a lot of room to fill in details, so I don’t know everything that will happen.)

After that, I wanted something in between, so I picked back up where I left off in season three of Gilmore Girls.

What I Listened To

I’ve listened to all my usual podcasts, plus some episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast. This past weekend, though, I decided to switch back to listening to the Crafty Ass Female podcast, so I’ve listened to a few of those as well. I also made some progress listening to A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon on Audible. I have some summits that I may be listening to this week, so not sure how much progress I’ll make before next week’s post.

So that’s been my media week! How about you? Are you reading, watching, or listening to anything new? Let’s chat about it in the comments!
