Media Monday – October 26

The fall seems to be flying by! It’s almost November, so I’m starting to think about Christmas gifts and using up my PTO. I’m also still reading and consuming other media, too, though!

What I Read

This section will be a little bit boring. I’m still reading Packing for Mars by Mary Roach. I’m getting close to finishing it, though. I’m learning a lot about the problems of manned space missions, but it’s also full of humor, so it reads pretty quickly. If you choose to read it, be sure to read the footnotes!

I’m still reading Poustinia by Catherine Dougherty, and also getting close to finishing this one. A poustinia is like a little cottage or hut where a spiritual person can choose to go to connect with God. The book talks about that practice, but also about being a poustinia by carrying the presence of God with us. It’s very interesting, and a new concept to me.

I guess technically I’m also still reading the princess saves herself in this one by Amanda Lovelace, although I don’t think I’ve read any further this week. It’s not very long, so I’m not worried about finishing it in time to return it to the library.

What I Watched

This one will be a little more exciting! I finished watching La Brea over the weekend. The concept was intriguing, but I thought it was only ok. The time travel got very confusing with different people in different times and trying to change different things.

I also saw that Steel Magnolias was leaving Netflix this month, so I took a couple of hours to watch it this weekend. Can you believe I’ve never seen it before? I thought it held up really well to the test of time.

Once I finished those, I decided to check out Below since I’ve heard a lot of hype about it. I’ve only watched one episode so far.

What I Listened To

More of the same again here. I’ve got my usual podcast lineup, including the new Dollars and Sense and Life Hax podcasts that recently started. I’ve found it pretty convenient to listen to those at work, though, so I’ve also had time to squeeze in a few more episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast.

One other thing here, I joined Frank Viola’s Deeper Christian Life Network a while back and started listening to his master class on 1 Corinthians. This is the book we are currently studying in our life group, although I haven’t caught up yet! I’m still learning a lot, though.

So that’s me for the last week! How about you? Anything new that you’re reading, watching, or listening to? We can chat about it in the comments!
