Media Monday – September 28

I don’t know if this update will be too exciting. Let’s take a look, maybe there’s something I forgot about!

What I Read

Well, I am still reading Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon. I’m about 2/3 done now. In my defense, it’s almost 1000 pages long! I know I’m past page 600 because I noticed it today. It’s similar to the more recent books in that we have Jamie and Claire at Fraser’s Ridge, Roger and Briana off in one direction with their kids, and Ian, Rachel, and Jenny off in another with little Oggy. Plus some unexpected additions along the way. I’m excited to finish this one, but also sad that there’s still going to be a long wait until the next book is out.

I did finish The Confessions of St. Augustine last week, as expected. This was very good, but also kind of uneven due to the nature of the book. There are certainly some gems to be mined from the text, though.

My next spiritual read is Poustinia by Catherine Doherty. This book is about the Russian practice of “poustinia,” which means “desert,” and in this context, is about seeking solitude in order to listen to God. It’s very interesting so far.

What I Watched

I finished rewatching The Diplomat on Netflix over the weekend. This show currently has three seasons with just eight episodes per season, so it really didn’t take too long. After finishing that, I’ve just gone back to Seinfeld for a bit. I want to start something new soon, though, I’m just not sure what it will be yet!

What I Listened To

I’m still catching up on podcasts, although I’m trying to listen to new ones as they come out as well. I’m actually almost caught up now; I think I just have a couple of episodes of Greg Boyd: Apologies & Explanations left until I can truly call myself caught up. This one usually releases a couple of very short episodes a week, but in the last couple of weeks they happened to have two slightly longer episodes featuring author interviews. I don’t mind at all, because both books sounded very interesting, and I’ve put them on my watchlist.

Alas, no news on the audiobook front. However, I did get a promotion for four months of Audible at $0.99 per month, plus a $20 credit today! I jumped on that, of course, so maybe I’ll find something new and exciting to listen to! If you’re an Amazon Prime member, check your email for it!

Well, I guess that wasn’t quite as bad as I feared! What about you? Are you finding a lot of time for reading, or whatever your chosen medium is? Feel free to chat in the comments! Especially if you have any audiobook recommendations for me!
