Media Monday – August 3

Welp, it’s Monday again! Sometimes it feels like time is rolling by faster than ever. And there’s so many amazing things to read, watch, and listen to!

What I Read

I finished reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson! This one is really pretty short, which is one of the reasons I chose it for my library challenge haunted house category. It’s very, very creepy, though. I just finished it last night, but I’m planning to get back to The Texicans by Nina Vida now.

I also finished Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ by Jeanne Guyon. I can see why this is a classic. The version that I had I think said it was actually kind of paraphrased, I think. It talked about how the original was pretty esoteric, even in its original French. What came through was really good, though.

This month I’m starting The Confessions of Saint Augustine. The Kindle version I have of this has a long introduction that says it’s also somewhat rearranged and paraphrased. I think I am going to stick with that for now, though. I’m hoping after finishing my “curriculum” this year to go back and read some of these in more depth.

What I Watched

Will it surprise you to hear that it’s been all Outer Banks? I’m pretty sure it has. Since I’ve seen it before, it’s easy to watch while doing other things, and I’ve only got a couple more episodes to go before I’m ready for the last season!

What I Listened To

More of the usual here. I’ve got my regular lineup of podcasts, and I think I’m just going to officially add Hacking Humans to that, at least for new episodes. I’m kind of weird about wanting to watch or listen to the backlog, but there’s not as much point when it’s a current events-driven show.

I’m also still listening to Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon on Audible. I have less than an hour to go, though! I want to read the next book with my eyes first, so I’m not sure what audio book I want to listen to next. Maybe the full-cast editions of Harry Potter. I think I’ve been able to purchase all but the last book.

Well, that’s been my week! I feel like I’m listening to more these days, but reading less, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. What about you, though? What are you most into in this season? Let me know in the comments!
