Media Monday – November 10

Well, at least I’m posting on Monday, even if it is Monday night! I think this may be better, actually. I usually have a lot of things on my mind on Sundays, thinking about the week ahead. So I may just make this a permanent thing. Anyway, on with the post!

What I Read

This is the uninteresting section this week! Well, what I am reading is not uninteresting, just not much change from last week. I’m still working on The Book Censor’s Library by Bothanya Al-Essa. I’m on the last section, so I expect to finish it in the next two or three days. It’s really interesting, and is living up to my expectations pretty well. After this, I may have to put Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis on my reading list. If you know, you know.

I’m also still working on Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster. Interesting that he refers to The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder, which you may remember that I read not too long ago. I guess my original read of this many years ago might have been the first reference that I saw to that book.

What I Watched

I finished watching season four of Stranger Things, so now I’m all ready for season five! After finishing that yesterday, I’ve only watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls. I was thinking I was only on season two, but it turns out I’m on season three! Things are getting more complicated in Stars Hollow, and I guess I’m getting used to the constant clever banter. Next up on my list is probably The Diplomat, although the Netflix algorithm is sending me other interesting stuff that I keep adding to my list. So we’ll see what happens!

What I Listened To

Come to think of it, not much is new here, either. I’ve got my usual weekly podcast queue. I think this week it was just Organize 365 in the in-between times. Plus, I’m still listening to Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon on Audible. I’m slowly but surely making my way through that one.

I’ve got a few minutes to spare, so let me introduce you to what I think is the podcast in my current list that I’ve been listening to the longest! It’s the Best of Both Worlds podcast hosted by Laura Vanderkam and Sarah Hart-Unger. You may remember that Sarah hosts Best Laid Plans, another podcast that I listen to. This podcast has some planning content, since Sarah is really into that, but also covers a host of other topics relevant to working mothers. Topics generally relate to work and/or family, hence the “both worlds” part of the moniker. Laura’s oldest child is the same year as my daughter, so I’ve found the episodes to be pretty relevant to me over the years. This one has been going since before each host’s youngest child was born, so if you are, or plan to be, a white-collar working mom, you can likely find a good place to start with this one.

Turns out that this is kind of a short one today. The good news is that I’ll probably have some new stuff to report on for next week! But what about you? Anything new in your media? Let’s chat in the comments!
