Media Monday – August 25

Ugh, back to busy! But I’m hoping it’s not too much longer. We got our daughter off to school, and my husband is renting out his parents’ house, so there’s been a lot of moving going on. That part has to come to an end soon, though. There will still be a lot of stuff at our house that we need to go through, but we can do that more at our leisure, I think.

What I Read

As expected, I finished Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. Very weird, but I’m intrigued and hope to read the next three books soon.

My next category was a book with a funny title. I was going to look through books I already have for Kindle, but then on the library’s list I saw one called Easy Crafts for the Insane: A Mostly Funny Memoir of Mental Illness and Making Things by Kelly Williams Brown, and I couldn’t resist! I’m almost done with this one now.

Then, for the humorous mystery or thriller category, I’d been thinking I’d like to read The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman, which is the next book in the Thursday Murder Club series. Those books all have pretty long waiting lists at the library though, I’m sure due to the series coming out this week, and while checking out the library recommendations I realized that the same author has another book outside the TMC series called We Solve Murders. It also sounded good, and was available at one of my local libraries, so I decided to snag it before the rest of the world found out about it! I’m actually reading parts of this one while reading the crafting memoir book, which I can do pretty easily since one is fiction and one is non-fiction. I’m sure I’ll zoom through this one once I’ve finished the other one.

In spiritual reads, I’m still working on The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder, and I’m not expecting that to change for a while! I am making progress, though.

What I Watched

I’ve continued watching a few episodes of Perfect Strangers here and there, with Seinfeld thrown in when I need kind of a “comfort watch.” I also decided maybe it’s time to rewatch Stranger Things since season 5 is coming around Thanksgiving, which sounds far off but I know will be here in a blink. It’s going really fast though; I’m already well into season 2.

What I Listened To

I finished listening to Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci on Audible. This was very interesting, as he has led a very interesting life. I enjoyed the author’s narration, but I also kind of want to see the recipes in print! I have not started another audiobook yet; I’m thinking about listening to the entire Outlander series, but that will be quite a commitment! I did see that we have a title for the tenth and final book, though, so maybe that will be out in the next couple of years. I should probably get started because I actually haven’t even read the ninth book yet.

In podcast listening, I’ve still got the same lineup. I was thinking I would go back over the ones I listen to regularly, but I see I’m already over 500 words, plus I need to take my contacts out, so maybe I’ll leave that for another week.

So that’s what I’ve been doing. It sounds like a lot when I write it all down! To be fair, I did do a lot of riding in a passenger seat, though. How about you? What are you reading, watching or listening to this week?
