Media Monday – March 9

And we’re back! I’ve got two weeks worth to share, although I’m not sure yet how much it really is. Either way, let’s get started.

What I Read

Well I finished Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. I think it might have even been that night. I did overall end up enjoying it very much, and am planning to read the rest of the series.

After that, I picked up The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. (It worked for a book with a blue cover for the library, and I’d also just been wanting to read it. It did have a blue cover before they changed it for the movie tie-in.) It was a good popcorn read, but I hate when they hype up a twist so much. If I go in knowing there’s a big twist, I’m going to be looking for it, and in this case I had a good idea what it would be. (I also had an alternative idea that was completely wrong.) Still, it was an exciting read, and I will probably continue with the sequels to it as well.

After that one, I read somewhere about We Can Be Mended by Veronica Roth, which is a short story sequel to the Divergent series. It was available from the library, so I picked it up. It was a quick read, but I thought it was only meh. I didn’t think it added much to the series.

Then, after that, I checked out and started reading The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata for a sports romance book. At first I wasn’t thrilled with the writing (I still have some issues with it), but I am enjoying that it’s not a typical romance. I’m something like 75% through it, and it’s really not been spicy at all. The female main character knows she’s in love with the male main character, but it’s still very much in the angsty stage. Anyway, I expect to finish this one pretty soon, too.

In spiritual reads, I finished The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence as planned. For March, I started reading Life of Antony by Athanasius of Alexandria. Honestly, I’m not enjoying it as much as the previous two, but it’s still interesting. I also continued to make slow but steady progress with The Stressed Years of Their Lives by B. Janet Hibbs and Anthony Rostain.

What I Watched

I don’t think there’s anything new here. I’ve watched more Outlander and am in the middle of season four. I’ve continued watching American Housewife, and have thrown in a few episodes of Seinfeld as well.

What I Listened To

Not much new to report here, either. I’ve continued listening to the Crafty Ass Female podcast after listening to my other regular podcasts. I’m also well into listening to The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. (In the process I’ve noticed that “fiery” is spelled very weirdly.)

Well, that’s me for the last two weeks! It looks like I’ve leaned hardest into reading, and I’m really happy about that. How about you? What have you been reading, watching, and listening to the last couple of weeks? Let’s chat in the comments!
