April 3 Reading Thursday

It’s another Reading Thursday! I took social media off my phone for Lent, so I’m finding more time to read. I’ve also gotten more into using the Kindle app on my phone, since there aren’t any scrolly apps to browse. I used to think, why would I use a phone app when I could use my Kindle, but I’m appreciating having it available, and have even stopped taking my Kindle (almost) everywhere since I know my book is on my phone if I want it. I still enjoy pulling out the Kindle with it’s epaper screen at home, but the phone is so much more convenient when I’m on the move.

What I Finished

I finished Tired as F*ck by Caroline Dooner just yesterday. If you enjoyed her first book, The F*ck It Diet, you’ll probably enjoy this one even more like I did. She goes deeper into the background of her disordered relationship with food and expands into the ways that trying to meet her own and others’ expectations led to complete burnout and how she emerged from it. Hopefully from the title you’re expecting the profanity that comes along with it.

What I Started

Surprise, I started and finished Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins this week! My library hold did in fact come up early, and I returned it early so the next person in line can read it sooner, too. Haymitch’s Hunger Games story did not disappoint, but did surprise with his own way of fighting back against the capital. We also saw the younger versions of some familiar characters, sometimes revealing a new facet of them. What should not be surprising is that winning any Hunger Games competition is only the beginning of a new nightmare.

What I’m Still Reading

I’m still reading steadily in Revelation for the Rest of Us by Scot McKnight and Cody Matchett. Also I mostly abandoned Chernobyl by Frederik Pohl in favor of the aforementioned library books this week, but did start back up with it yesterday. I’m trying to listen to a little of The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss every day, too.

What I Plan to Read

I will continue with the books I have in progress. I also checked out The Note by Alafair Burke from the library. It’s an intriguing-sounding thriller that I read about somewhere and added to my list. Sometimes it’s nice to read new books while everyone else is reading them.

How about you? What are you reading this week?
