Another week I did not manage to get this post scheduled. I did think about it yesterday, does that count? Anyway, I have some new things to report, so let’s get to it!

What I Read
I did finish We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. It was just as delightful as The Thursday Murder Club – maybe even more so because there are some relationships in the book that definitely have room for some backstory to be filled in. I’m looking forward to more books about Amy, Steve, Rosie, and their friends.
After finishing that one, I started a book I owned, The Strength of His Hand by Lynn Austin. This is the third book (of five) in her Chronicles of the Kings series, which is about King Hezekiah from the Bible. Historical fiction from Bible times (sometimes I call it biblical fiction) is kind of an obsession of mine, but some of it isn’t great writing. These are alright, not riveting, but pretty good, so I’ve been slowly working on reading the series.
Then, one of my fiction library holds came up for Elphie by Gregory Macguire. I really wanted to start working through these since I’m almost done with my library challenge for the year, so I grabbed it and started reading. Then I kind of regretted it, because that final book, How Can I Help You? by Laura Sims, also came up in my holds early! So I postponed that one for seven days. (Overdrive/Libby lets you do that, although you have to wait until the next person returns it, so it may be more like two or three weeks before you actually get it.) It came up again at another library today, so I went ahead and snagged it. I’m almost halfway done with Elphie, so that’s going pretty well, and I figured if I need more time for How Can I Help You? I’ll be able to check it out again soon anyway.
In spiritual reads, I’m still chipping away at The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder. Have I mentioned it’s really dense?
What I Watched
Also a lot of excitement here! I think I may have watched a little Seinfeld, but I was really starting to get into Gilmore Girls again, and watched several episodes. Then, of course, the second part of Wednesday came out on Netflix, and I’ve watched the remaining episodes. After that, something prompted me to remember that Peacock came out with a spinoff of The Office this week called The Paper. The premise is that since The Office ended Dunder Mifflin moved to Toledo and was bought by a larger company, one of whose subsidiaries is a newspaper. So now the documentary crew is filming a whole new cast of characters, plus Oscar, the only remaining Dunder Mifflin employee. The cast and setting are different, but somehow it does still have some of the feel of the original show.
Today I also have some non-TV I’m watching, too. It’s day one of Get Organized HQ Virtual 2025, so I’ve been trying to watch a lot of the videos there. It’s one of those where videos will be available for free for 24 hours, or you can upgrade to the paid version to get permanent access. Justine Hovey also has an event running right now called 12 Days of Christmas, where she makes a different holiday card each day. There’s still time to sign up for both of these if you’re interested.
What I Listened To
Less excitement here, pretty much just the usual. I’ve still got my usual lineup of podcasts, with the Organize 365 Podcast filling in when I’ve finished listening to the new ones. I’ve also made some good progress listening to Outlander on Audible, although I expect that will slow down with the events I mentioned above sucking up a lot of my listening time.
So that’s been my week! I love that writing to you here is helping me be a little more intentional about the media that I’m consuming! What about you? Are you reading, watching, or listening to anything new (or old) that we should know about? Let’s chat in the comments!
