I already did Reading Thursday, so then I thought, why not Watching Wednesday?
What is it?
So what’s this all about? I figured recording what we watch could be just as interesting as what we read.
I’ll admit, I don’t really have a method for what I watch. I do tend to binge shows, or at least a season. But I also have several going at once, because sometimes you want to get into a complex drama, and other times you just need some mindless entertainment.
What I’m watching now
- I binged Brave New World on Peacock. I had watched the first episode for free a while back, but the rest was only available on Premium. Then I saw an offer for three months free a couple of weeks ago and signed up, so I was able to watch the rest. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue after watching the second episode, which was very violent, but the rest wasn’t so bad, and it turned out to be a worthwhile show.
- While I was on Peacock, I tried the first episode of Happy’s Place. I like Reba, but I don’t think she’s enough to keep watching this one. Maybe if I just need something cute and mindless.
- I also recently finished watching The Chosen (through season 4) with my husband on Amazon Prime. It’s really well done, and I’m looking forward to season 5. We typically have pretty different tastes in shows, but this has been a good one for us to enjoy together.
- Seinfeld on Netflix. This is my current distraction show. It’s always good for a laugh.
- Outer Banks on Netflix. My teenage daughter is responsible for this one, which is surprising because we really have different tastes! It’s actually really suspenseful, so I can’t really binge it straight through, but I am enjoying a few episodes a week. I only have one more to go before I’m caught up.
What’s next
- I didn’t include it above because I haven’t watched in a while, but when I’m in the mood I’ll watch an episode or two of Anne with an “E.”
- My husband and I are planning to try House of David on Prime. It comes out this week, and looks kind of similar to The Chosen.
- I’m looking forward to watching the last season of The Handmaid’s Tale in April. I read the book years ago, and also again since the show came out. I like how the show has been able to expand the world while staying true to the feeling of the book.
- Google says that the final season of Stranger Things is also coming out in 2025, but there’s no date available. Here’s hoping!
- Another new season I’m looking forward to is Only Murders in the Building, but I haven’t been able to find a date. I’m hoping it will follow the pattern and be available this summer.
- Sometimes I get a bug to watch a movie, especially if there is a three-day weekend or something where I have an extra day off. I’ve been slowly working my way through the MCU in chronological order.
- Of course, there are a million things saved on my lists on all the streaming services, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day, or days in the week!
So that’s my current state of watching. What about you? Any must-sees I should know about?
