Alright, I’m back! Sorry about missing last week, but there’s two weeks worth of media to discuss today, so let’s get to it!
What I Read
So I finished reading Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison. And you know what? Soylent Green isn’t people! In fact, I don’t think there even was a Soylent Green, although there were Soylent products, but there was no hint that they were not actually made of soy and lentils as advertised. So I guess it’s less exciting than the movie. (I haven’t actually seen the whole movie, just parts of it.) But it’s also, I guess, kind of creepier. Not in a way that makes for a good movie, though. It’s just so pessimistic. All these people living on top of each other and barely surviving, while a few elites enjoy air conditioning, real meat, and enough water for showers.
After that one, I wanted to find a book with an article of clothing or textile in the title for the “fashonista” category, so I chose No Cloak, No Dagger by Benjamin Cowburn. He was an English spy in occupied France during World War II, so it’s very interesting so far. I’ve also made a small amount of progress with The Stressed Years of Their Lives by B. Janet Hibbs.
In my spiritual reading, I finished Letters by a Modern Mystic by Frank C. Laubach, and I’ve started reading The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. It’s interesting that these are both about learning to commune with God through our daily activities. I’m also continuing with my Bible reading.
What I Watched
Let’s see if I can remember everything here! In actual TV streaming, I’ve watched the second series of Outlander and started on the third. I also threw a little more Seinfeld in there, and have been keeping up with All Creatures Great and Small as new episodes have come out.
Online, I’ve also watched more of the “Building Better Creative Habits” series on Foxsy. I think there’s just one more to watch here. I also signed up for a couple of online summits last week, one for Cricut crafting and one for Etsy. I’ve kind of become reinspired to try selling digital products on Etsy, and a friend of mine is also interested in that, so maybe we can inspire each other. I think I watched a little YouTube in there, too.
What I Listened To
Mostly more of the same here. I’ve been listening to my usual podcasts. I listened to a few extra episodes of the Organize 365 Podcast, but then I realized that I am actually fewer episodes behind in the Crafty Ass Female podcast, so I switched over to that one for my extra listening.
In audiobooks, I finished listening to Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. This is actually the book that corresponds to season three of the show, so I expect that my watching will soon catch up to and pass my watching, if that makes sense. I have gotten a good start on the fourth book, Drums of Autumn, though.
So I think that’s everything I’ve been doing the last couple of weeks as far as media. How about you? Are you reading, watching, or listening to anything interesting? Let me know in the comments!
