I want to start posting additional content this year. That’s always been my intent, but I’ve had a hard time getting started. This is one thing that should be easy to post every month, though, because I do it every month. It’s creating a new theme in my bullet journal.
I’ve discovered that I’m not a big doodler, like some of the bujoers that I follow, but I do enjoy having some kind of theme that changes monthly, even if it’s just a color scheme. The last few months, I’ve gotten the subscription kit from Archer and Olive, which makes it really easy to create a coordinated look with pre-made items. The kits typically come with colored and patterned paper, washi tape, stickers, plus some kind of bonus item. I pick some markers that are a good match to the colors in the kit to use.
My monthly setup is pretty minimal. I usually just do a page with the month, which is some kind of collage or stickerscape, or something like that. Then my monthly layout, which right now is just a list of numbers for the date, and usually every other line highlighted. Then I have a page for prayer requests, and then my weekly layouts. I only do those one week at a time, and they are usually just an eight-box layout across two pages.
Sometime I may go back and do a post on some of my favorite themes from the past, but for today I just want to show off my January page. The kit is a kind of dreamy, watercolor, night sky with lots of blues and purples. I was really happy with how the collage for my cover page came out this month.

All the stickers and papers are from the A&O kit, including the little number stickers on the monthly. I did the lettering on the tag on the cover page. It’s the first time I’ve tried stacked calligraphy, which I learned from Rylee Autumn, and I’m reasonably happy with how it turned out.
Looking back at the last few months, I’m realizing how much practicing creativity really does make my creations better. I think this is my favorite one yet. This year I’m hoping to continue to be more intentional about my creativity.
